Maybe you’ve heard about this group from the 90’s belching the hits, “when I come around”, and “basketcase”. Yes, that’s Green Day for you. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool are the masterminds of this punk turned alternative rock outfit from California. When they first came out in the mainstream arena, they were literally punk rock, often times compared to the Ramones because of their overdriven guitars, fast-paced manic drumming and high –trebled bass lines, plus, their songs only lasts under four minutes.
Their album “Dookie” was their breakthrough album spawning a cult of followers all over the world. Infectious hits and tongue – in – cheek attitude makes them more popular and the punk rock outfit was working well with fans. Pure teenage angst, that’s what is it all about. And we thought Green Day would stay that way, eventually fading away as the punk rock thing slowly falls down.
But to everyone’s surprise, they didn’t slow down, rather, they threw in hit album after hit album, and when we thought it was over, they gave birth to the artistic monster, “21st Century Breakdown”. How the hell did this group got better? It was overkill, they’ve been epic way back in the dookie days up until now, yet they still manage to create more epicness.
Green day is nothing less than Legendary.
