The Pain of Beginning

When you are still trying to learn how to play the guitar, it is very much normal for you to look up to great guitar players, and there’s no one else as great as Steve Vai.

Steve Vai’s name is somewhat related to virtuoso guitar playing. He’s one good example of a musician that’s good to get reference and tips from. Even though you’ll be a very long way from being able to play the guitar as good as he does, you’ll still be inspired on the way he executes his techniques and styles.

Starting to play the guitar and beginning to learn it can be very painful and difficult for you but always remember, blessed are those who are patient enough to discipline their selves and practice for they will rewards they never imagined. This is so true because when you practice religiously and you are disciplined when it comes to your practice, in a few months time, you’ll see massive improvements in your guitar playing. Don’t stop there, move on. Learn new things, research for new things and practice them until you master them and then move on to the next one. That is how it is, never stop practicing and learning. In a few years time, you’ll be as good as Steve Vai, guaranteed.

The State of Music Today

Nowadays, especially in America, all you see and hear on the TV and the radio is loads of crap. I couldn’t call that music. I mean, all that crap that teaches our kids to get down and dirty aren’t worthy of being called music, that’s a fact. Music industry is focusing on selling it to teenage girls, and for real musicians, they don’t get good music at all. They have to dig it up just to find some good tunes. Look at Justin Bieber, man! The boy can’t even sing properly and couldn’t write his own songs and he gets total exposure just because he’s marketable and teenage girls would love it. What’s wrong with you guys? There are millions of talented musicians out there, millions of times more talented than Bieber boy (if you can call that talent) who would die for this kind of exposure, but no, they will not get it. Why? Because they aren’t marketable and cute.
There are lots of guitar – driven rock bands out there who doesn’t care about fashion at all; all they care about is the music and its quality. For us musicians, that is a good thing, but for those major industry music marketing blokes, that’s worthless. This definitely proves how corrupt and dirty the industry is. I just hope one day, people would get tired of listening to lady gaga and start listening to John Mayer instead. Look at Splender or Alien Ant Farm. They both got talent, skillful members, especially guitar players, but where are they now? They became victims of Major Label Corruption. But even though they are not in the front rows anymore, you could still hear that people regard their songs as one of the best songs ever. That’s pure talent. Two years from now you won’t hear Bieber Boy’s “one time”. That’s garbage.
